I have made the mistake of not maintaining a journal of Sloane’s first five months here. There is so much to say about how she is growing right now; she learns something new everyday. I couldn’t possibly document it all, as much as I try, but here is some semblance of such an attempt.
- Flipping over is instinct now. Every time we lay her on her back, like clockwork, she flips onto her tummy. Sloane is also on the verge of crawling. She can move her legs, but she doesn’t know what to do with her arms yet.
- For a baby, she loves to sleep in. For instance, I had to wake her up at 6:30 AM this Monday morning to get ready for the day. I greet her with a “Good Morning Ba-ba” and she responds with her sweet smile.
- She loves the bath! When I put her in her tub she kicks and kicks with her legs making a huge mess! It is so fun watching her enjoy herself (huge clean up effort for me after).
- She is starting to experience stranger anxiety. When she is being held by certain people she doesn’t know, she gets this little nervous look on her face and sometimes follows that with a cry. It is pretty odd. She sometimes smiles and gravitates to certain people while it takes time for her to warm up to others. This behavior is pretty random. We haven’t noticed a pattern yet.
- She talks a lot! She used to make all sorts of sounds, but for the last couple of weeks, she has been sticking with “he he he he”.
- She is discovering and observing things around her. She will grab her pacifier and play with it in her hands and stare at it. She also likes to stare at the trees outside the bedroom window.
- Her favorite toy is her set of keys. She will gnaw it for minutes.
- Sloane looks like Jon when she smiles. She gets these little animae eyes when she smiles and it melts my heart.
- She is starting to reach for things and teething like mad! She is constantly drooling and putting anything in her mouth that she can.
- I am still nursing and hope to keep nursing her for as along as I can. She starts solids next month!
